When you think of an artist who is truly versatile and talented, the name "Jadine"
can not go without mention. Hailing from the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean,
Montserrat, Jadine started her career as a songstress in 2003, and has quickly
become one of the fastest rising stars in Soca. Shortly after appearing on the
Soca scene she earned two separate award nominations from the Soca Awards
Committee. One for Best New Female Soca Artist in 2005 and then another nod of
approval in 2008 for Best Groovy Soca Collaboration for teaming up with
Vincentian Soca Artist Problem Child. In testament to her growing fame in 2009,
she was the New England Urban Music Award winner of Best Caribbean Female
Artist.
When asked about her feelings regarding such an honor, Jadine, a beautiful, down
to earth and simple woman of humble upbringing states, "Of course, I see this as
a validation of myself as an artist, but bigger than that, I see it as an
opportunity for my country, Montserrat, to be recognized again for our
contributions to Caribbean music."
Jadine says it was her family who first realized her potential. When she was
fourteen they forced her to sing at her aunt’s wedding. Delightfully laughing at
the memory Jadine says, "I cried the whole time, but by the time I was eighteen,
I was the queen of karaoke you could not get a microphone out of my hands." Not
surprising, during the past years the demand for a performance by Jadine has
spread throughout the entertainment industry.
After the debut of her single “Don't Call My Phone” she was listed as amongst
the Soca crème de la crème on VP Records prestigious compilation, Soca Gold
2008. Some of her more memorable accomplishments are performing and proudly
representing Montserrat at the 2005 NY Caribbean Tourism Organization Week
Celebration which hosted launch of MTV New Caribbean Channel "TEMPO" and again
in 2006. So well received was this single that she heeded calls for a music
video. After debuting on Tempo’s Top Ten Countdown the video, which was shot by
Rhona Fox, climbed almost immediately to number two. From then it has become a
whirlwind career. She began performing with a number of popular artistes
including The Great "Singing Sandra”, KMC, Iwer George, Peter Ram, Collie Buddz,
Machel Montano, Cecile, Sanchez, Leon and The Peoples and many more. It was this
inspired the next step in her artistic career, an album.
Teaming up with Vicrae Management Inc, Jadine is currently working on her
Sophomore album that will fuel a season of change. Featured producers include,
Godfrey “Cherry” Ince for Black Heat Entertainment, Kamau “Mr. Network”
Productions. Look out for a few surprise collaborations on this groundbreaking
album including one with Barbadian sensation Peter Ram.
Passionate, driven and soulful, Jadine is poised to be cultural force wearing
her West Indian Heritage proudly on her chest. Consistently demonstrating an
ability to appeal to all audiences, she can get the clubs jumpin’ with her bass
heavy R&B-Soca styled new releases “Stay In Touch” and “Do It Better”, whether
the European dance market with her tribal remixes or a Caribbean fete.
Jadine's talent is much too overwhelming to pass off as a mere fluke. She amazes
and dazzles people with her rich voice and eclectic style. For 2009, her new
album "Unleash De Deva” is sure to make you turn up your radios and hit the
dance floor. Brace yourselves because The Soca Deva has arrived!
