Raving Out at Miami Carnival
For those who made it to London’s Nottinghill Carnival there was barely enough time to charge up before the next stop on the carnival calendar – Miami!!. And if you missed Skinny Fabulous charging up Nottinghill then you were sure to find him at one of the many events during the recent carnival weekend in Miami.
Miami Carnival kicked off on Wednesday, October 4th with a press conference which featured appearances by soca queen Alison Hinds, Oungku from Antiguan Burning Flames and the Vincentian three time soca monarch winner. As a string of events were unveiled for the long anticipated Carnival weekend it was evident that those flocking to the state for the weekend’s celebrations had more than enough events to choose from.
Skinny Fabulous passed through Bacchanal Wednesday at Sosta Lounge, Downtown Hollywood and joined Machel Montano on stage at Thursday nights Girl Power event leaving behind an energetic performance which left fans begging for more.
By the Friday night, power levels were at a maximum and the crowd at Black and White, the all inclusive premiere party of the weekend got another taste of the 135 lb artist alongside Benjai, Blaxx and Iwer George. On stage at Flag Night Skinny also took time to introduce to the stage Barbadian Big Red known for his monster hit “Bend Over and Don’t Look Back and the Virgin Island Groovy Soca Monarch Queen Rudy singing her huge hit “ Pressure during his set.
Miami Carnival is not just about performing, its also about taking the opportunity to spread the word about soca music.
