Lil Rick & Peter Ram - From Notting Hill to Holland and Back |

Lil Rick and Peter Ram went to the United Kingdom to take part in Notting Hill Carnival.
To call their schedule over that weekend hectic would be an understatement. It started out with the Poison Energy Concert on Friday where Rick and Ram shared the stage with Iwer George, Benjai, Berbice, Scrappy and concert headliners Bunji Garlin, Faye Ann Lyons and the Asylum Band.
Although it was his first time performing at Notting Hill, Ram opened the show and gave a riveting performance. He received an overwhelming response from the party-going crowd to his ever popular “Woman By My Side”, “Pumpin’” and “Tight”.
Rick, always a crowd pleaser, performed songs from his extensive repertoire from past to present. His 2009 hit "Ride It" was among the crowd favourites and in his usual style he invited a number of ladies on stage to perform the number with him.
On Carnival Saturday, Rick performed at the packed to capacity Tudor Rose Nightclub for an event hosted by Vinny Ranks and his brother Martin Jay of Choice FM.
He gave a fantastic performance and the energetic crowd sang along with him at the top of their voices. Called back for an encore performance, Rick left the crowd in a frenzy and was a tough act to follow. From start to finish this was a high energy event, with performances that included Kerwin DuBois, Benjai, Iwer George and Blaxx.
On Sunday the two artistes flew to Holland for an event hosted by Ylanga Blinker at Eindelijk Weer, in Almere, Holland.
From the crowd response, one could tell that Ram’s music is very popular with the Dutch and he didn’t disappoint with his performance. Rick too gave a stellar performance and enjoyed teaching his unfamiliar songs to the audience. In no time he had them singing along and doing the "Hard Wine". With a quick turnaround the two returned to London the same night to prepare for Notting Hill Carnival.
Monday saw both Rick and Ram performing their most recent hits on the two music trucks in the Poison band, for revellers and the thousands of spectators who lined the streets. The two artists then took to the streets for the remainder of the day to party hearty and remind revellers how it’s done in Barbados.
All in all, the reception from the UK, Sweden and Holland all go to show that as soca music continues to be exposed and exported, there are international markets clamouring for it. |
