Guyanese artiste Timeka Marshall will be featured on producer Preston Onfroy’s new rhythm, Disturbia. Timeka speaks glowingly about this project and confesses that Preston’s rhythm is invasive to the musical palette. “You can’t help but be moved as the rhythm carries a catchy baseline and melodies designed to make you lose control” Timeka said. No stranger to Jamaican mixes this diverse singer has worked with producers such as Richard “Shams” Browne, Clive Hunt, Equinoxx, and others.

For Timeka this is one more single done with Jamaican influence, having done the successful R&B single “We Should Separate”, which the young singer released after she entered and won a talent contest for a telecommunications company in Guyana. The songstress catapulted on the entertainment scene, and has been working in studios, recording singles which have had good rotation on radio stations across the Caribbean. With just one performance of the gritty dancehall track “Nothing At All”, Timeka was immediately signed to a developmental deal, which would see her working with some of Jamaica’s top producers.

Of course, she is excited to work with Preston on this new track, and thrilled to work with Jamaican talent. “It’s really cool for me, and Preston is talented and our creative energies just work. As I heard the rhythm, I started to move, and the rest is history,” Timeka said. Her commitment and hard work in the months she spent in Jamaica has paid off, with the release of two singles “Free” and “Ice-cream Boy” produced by international reggae producer Clive Hunt and his team of talented musicians.

The love of music is coupled with a determination to excel, for this female singer who continues to work at her craft. Her newest project is the music video for the single All Night, done with producer Stephen McGregor and is set to be released in January 2009.

Preston describes the rhythm as a catchy baseline with melodies to disturb. “It is raunchy and makes you want to go on the dance floor, let go and be rude,” he claimed. Having started producing in 2003, the young musician has reaped successes from several of his projects to date. These projects include Party Time which features Sizzla’s hit “Satisfy Yourself”, “Jump Off” which features Vybz Kartel’s “Realest Ting”, “Wrought Iron” featuring among others Capleton’s “Wine Dem” and “Panic” which featured Bounty’s “Poor People Fedup”. Preston is intrigued by Timeka’s ability to interpret his work so accurately and deliver a compilation of words, energy and style that is universal.

The rhythm boasts artiste such as dancehall heavyweights Beenie Man, Capleton, Munga, Sizzla, D’Angel, Spice, Shane-O just to name a few. With good promotion and rotation in the dancehall, Disturbia will go on sale in a matter of weeks.
