Philip 7 has just wrapped up a whirlwind promotional tour of Jamaica.
His new album “Masala” has already begun to strike a chord in the often
impenetrable Jamaican music industry for non- Jamaican artistes. The 12 track
album which features the production skills of some of the island’s leading
producers Stephen McGregor, Donovan Germaine and Richard
“Shams” Browne is a multi-genre album covering not only reggae but
alternative rock, pop and R&B.
Whilst in Jamaica Philip also took the opportunity to promote his highly
anticipated music video “Looking For”. Shot entirely in Jamaica by leading
Jamaican director Jay Will Philip’s premiere on Hype TV
was well received and
looks set to enter the video countdown charts over the next couple weeks.
When asked about his decision to premiere the video in Jamaica, Philip remarked
that he enjoyed the experience of shooting the video with the local crew so much
that he felt it fitting to premiere the video with the people who made the
experience such a good one.
He has already started to record other reggae tracks with plans to return
shortly to showcase his talents in Jamaica. Next on the promotional tour is
Trinidad as he gets ready next month to join fellow Pyramid artist Timeka
Marshall to promote his album “Masala” and the two tracks “Looking For” and “All
Night” which they share on the Stephen McGregor produced riddim |
