Judging from the way Peter Ram has begun 2009, it looks set to be another successful year for this singer/songwriter who has taken the soca industry by storm. Most recently he was nominated by a panel comprising RETV staff and industry personnel for Jamaica's first ever Video Music Awards.

His nomination for Best Caribbean Music Video for the 2008 hit single Pumpin produced by Darron Grant of Underground Studios was shot by leading Jamaican director Jay Will follows on the heels of recent video shoot for another hit single "Tight" produced by Peter Coppin of Monstapiece Studios on the Coconut Tree Riddim.





The nominees for Best Caribbean Music Video are as follows:

1. Fyah- Kevin Lyttle (St. Vincent & The Grenadines)

2. Move- KK Alese (Cayman)

3. Pumpin- Peter Ram (Barbados)

4. Defense Anthem Remix- Machel Montano and Pit Bull (Trinidad & Tobago)

5. Friends- Choc'late Allen and Queen Ifrica (Trinidad & Tobago)


The winners will be determined by the public who will vote by sending emails with their choices, to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Viewers must email the category that they are voting for along with the number assigned to the video in that particular category. A panel will also have the final decision in the selection of the winners in each category.

Voting is now open and closes on February 12, 2009. Winners will be announced in a live presentation on RETV in February.
