![]() For more than ten years, Lil’ Rick has churned out ultra-popular tunes year after year, backed by high level performances sure to delight his fans and enthral audiences. On Sunday, January 10 at this year’s staging of the Barbados Music Awards (BMA), he walked away as Barbados’ Entertainer of the Decade. In the 2001 Party Monarch competition he placed second with ‘Ent Missing’. Then we saw a more serious side from him in 2002, when he made it to the finals of the Pic-O-De-Crop where he eventually placed fourth. In that same year, he accomplished a major feat when he won both the Party Monarch and Road March titles with his hit single ‘Hypa Dawg’. As the 2003 Crop Over season got under way he rolled out the album ‘More Hype’ and by the end he successfully retained both of his titles with the release of ‘Mash Up & Buy Back’. Additionally, we can’t forget his memorable paragliding assisted entry on to the Party Monarch stage that year. To date, he is one of few male performing artists to repeat dual title winnings during Barbados’ Crop Over festival in consecutive years. 2005 marked the start of Rick’s journey under Pyramid’s management. He released the album ‘Spontaneous’ and demonstrated his song writing capabilities. He shocked fans with his rendition of the romantic ragga soca 'Be My Girl'. He also released the soca chart topper ‘Til Morning Come’ , then went on to nab the 2005 Ragga Soca Monarch title with the immensely popular ‘Do Fuh Do’.
