Tempo recently celebrated its third anniversary, on the 13th
December, 2008 in the Bahamas, with a lackluster turnout. Even with a lineup
featuring some of the hottest artistes in the region, the event failed to live
up to past anniversary celebrations.
Performing at the event were Pyramid’s own Peter Ram and Biggie Irie.
Both in typical fashion performed optimally, creating and capturing a crowd.
They had the Bahamians grooving to selections like “Woman By Side”, “Pumpin”,
“Big Girlz”, and the ever popular “Nah Going Home”. Another
Barbadian, Soca Queen Alison Hinds, also performed and tried to warm up the
significantly diminished crowd by giving some wining lesson. These were much to
the pleasure of the men in the audience but even the Soca Queen couldn’t bring
the fervor that was evident at Tempo’s past events. The band of the night was
without a doubt Krosfyah. Always the best of perfomers the band was in fine form
that night. With leads Edwin and Khiomal, the Bahamian audience
was really treated to a Bajan experience.
Jamaicans Tessanne Chin and Ce’cile also came out to show the
crowd a bit of flavor and made their performances quite interactive. Ce’cile
gave bubbling lessons and Tessanne came off stage to show some love to her
biggest fan, her mother. Following on their heels Bahamians had an opportunity
to see their homegrown son of the soil, Jaheime, singing his hit “Wickedest
Time”. Trinidadian Ziggy Rankin also got involved in the show with
his song “Tired Of This Miserable Life”.
The showstoppers of the events turned out to be the fantastic four. Mr. Vegas
brought his cohorts Spragga Benz, Timberlee and none other than
Mr. Lexx. Between the four of them they made the event’s finale worth the
admission for those who remained in the audience. Newcomer Timberlee did her
best to keep up with these three dancehall legends and from all accounts was a
pleasantly surprising addition to the ensemble.
