Verseewild, the Ahzam Boss, has broken onto the airwaves in the “Land of the Rising Sun” with his 2008 summer hit “Ahzam”. The song, his first release as an artist, was created with long time friend Mad Dog from Jamaica who also has a song on the same rhythm. Japan is currently experiencing a major reggae invasion. Reggae deejays like Black Assassin Sounds are constantly booked for events and club gigs as a whole new reggae subculture emerges amongst Japanese youth. The market is prime for the picking and it seems regional artistes are gearing up to harvest.
Both songs were introduced to the Japanese market late last year and have caught on because of the rhythm. This song has become the flagship for Verseewild, he was recently added to BET Jazz Saturday show, Island Lime, and has spent the past month in rotation on its music video line up. His video also features on Caribbean shows Roamin’ and online broadcasting channel Caribfyah.
