Timeka Marshall is one of many artistes on the revived Boops riddim compilation by producer Shane Brown (Juke Boxx Records) as a tribute to the late legendary Wycliffe ‘Steely’ Johnson with the track 'Sweet Vibes'.

Inspired by Steely’s creative talents, Shane’s Boops musical tribute combines the best of Steely's now classic style with a new distinctly Juke Boxx flair. The original Boops riddim was made popular in the 80's by the Super Cat hit single of the same name. In addition to Timeka, the updated version features a collection of young artistes including Busy Signal, Assassin, Tarrus Riley, Elephant Man, Romain Virgo and Karl Morrison.

Shane Brown
"Steely is among the great producers that have inspired my work, because of his remarkable ability to do both reggae and dancehall," Shane explained. "His riddim projects were distinctive and timeless with a signature style. As young producers we can learn a lot from Steely's massive catalogue.”

The Steely Boops Tribute is the first ever cover production from the eclectic Juke Boxx Productions label. Juke Boxx has racked up an impressive collection of chart topping tracks, with a style defined by superior production values rather than genre.

Steely died on September 1, 2009 at age 47 in a New York hospital while undergoing treatment for diabetes and hypertension related complications. He was well known and highly respected as a revolutionary producer that lead the transformation "from roots to dancehall to digital" according to the New York Times. During his career, Steely's worked on countless productions with luminaries such as Bob Marley, Bunny Wailer, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Coxone Dodd, King Jammy's and Bobby Digital in addition to producing seminal productions for his own label, Steely and Clevie with partner Cleveland Browne.
